Position Overview:

 

 

Boston Public Schools (BPS) seeks a Digital Content Manager to join the Communications team and help tell the story of our students, staff, and schools. The successful candidate will have expert  skills in photography, videography, editing, production, and publication.

 

BPS is working to diversify our storytelling and communicate more clearly with our students and their families, our teachers and staff, and the general public. We strongly believe photos and videos provide key context and deliver complicated messages in a more accessible format.

 

Digital communications is of increasing importance given how rapidly messaging needs to change and the various forms of communications tools available and currently being developed. 

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Conceive, record, edit, and recommend distribution of short informational videos for students and staff about BPS current events, news, updates, and engagement opportunities 
  2. Conceive, record/capture, edit, and recommend distribution of video/photos to accompany BPS press and social media announcements
  3. Collaborate with press team on digital press releases and media statements from the Superintendent and members of the BPS leadership team
  4. Recommend new and emerging methods for sharing messages from the Superintendent, BPS School Committee, and leadership for the benefit of students, families, and staff
  5. Collaborate with departments on producing videos for teachers, school-based staff, and central office staff as part of internal communications strategy
  6. Identify, edit, and share clips of speeches and public statements to reinforce BPS messaging
  7. Contribute items to the BPS weekly updates to families and staff
  8. Develop proactive messaging and ongoing rapid response to issues that arise
  9. Collaborate with Graphic and Web Media Designer to create and share assets to support BPS outreach and timely website updates
  10. Produce a digital library that documents and archives photos and videos in an easy to access format
