MBK/ Equitable Opportunity Co-OP resides in the Leadership Team within the Equity, Strategy & Opportunity Gaps of the Boston Public Schools, reporting to Dr. Charles Grandson, Chief Equity & Strategy Officer.  MBK/ Equitable Opportunity Co-OP is responsible for providing support in key areas, performing key tasks to move programs/initiatives forward, and contributing to reports, research, and community-focused meetings to advance the mission of the Boston Public Schools. The MBK/ Equitable Opportunity Co-OP will serve in a junior role within the Division of Equity, Strategy & Opportunity Gaps.   

 

The BPS Equity and Strategy Division was launched in October 2019. This new division brings many departments together in a common purpose: to ensure that the district places the elimination of disparities, particularly racial disparities, at the center of all of our instructional and operational work. Led by the Chief Equity and Strategy Officer the Division comprises vital departments: the Office of Equity, the Office of the Opportunity Gaps, the Office of Strategy and Innovation, and the Office of Recruitment, Cultivation, and Diversity. Together, these four Offices ensures every department and every school rigorously realizes the district's comprehensive, ambitious, systemic strategic plan; aligns its work to the BPS Opportunity and Achievement Gap Policy; and designs and implements policies, programs, protocols, and curricula intentionally focused on meeting the needs and advancing the academic outcomes of students from historically marginalized groups.

 

We are seeking applicants for two full-time ESOG co-op for six months(40 hours per week). The co-op will support the office in performing a range of responsibilities, including:

Applicants with a passion for equity and inclusion, and an ability to relate well to people from a wide variety of backgrounds are preferred. Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are a plus, but not required.

 

Co-op students will receive increasing responsibility as they master the essential functions of the job. The Office of Equity, Strategy & Opportunity Gaps is eager to support our co-op student in developing new skills, prove their abilities, and rapidly expand their duties.

ESOG co-op will receive training provided by the Office of Equity and other Boston Public School staff on a variety of topics, including:

 

Transportation: 12-minute walk from the Northeastern campus; accessible by public transportation (5-minute bus from Ruggles)

Wage Type: Hourly

Wage (Minimum): 25.00

Wage (Maximum): If the co-op student substantially increases their responsibilities, their hourly wage may be increased during the placement.

 

TERMS: Six months
