REPORTS TO: Principal/Headmaster RESPONSIBILITIES: Support students to strengthen their math skills and achievement, especially those who struggle with math and/or have low levels of math achievement Teach four sections of math (a mix of stand alone classes, push-in, pull-out, small group, tutoring or other activities as dictated by the needs of students) to students in grades 6-12 Collaborate with other math teachers and support providers to ensure students receive effective math support services Serve as part of the BGA math team which meets regularly Serve as an Advisor to 12-15 students and teach one section of Advisory Participate in BGA’s summer professional development of one additional week prior to the start of the school year Participate in additional duties as needed or required CORE COMPETENCIES: Using the Rubric of Effective Teaching, the Office of Human Capital has identified priority skills and abilities that all BPS teachers should possess: Accountability for Student Achievement (II-A-1. QUALIFICATIONS__REQUIRED: Education: Hold a Bachelors degree Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in the Mathematics at the appropriate grade level. Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified. Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Boston Public Schools as outlined above. Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment. QUALIFICATIONS__PREFERRED: Hold a Master's degree in a related field. Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in Moderate Disabilities at the appropriate grade level. Experience teaching in urban schools. Degree in relevant science field and/or Education BPS values linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring added value to the classroom, school, and district culture and diversity. BPS is particularly interested in candidates who are fluent in one of BPS' official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, & Somali.
