Job Title: Hotline Worker (January)
Terms: Temporary ($25.00/hour)
Reports to: Senior Director, Welcome Services
General Description:

Summary:
The Welcome Centers are hubs of information, communication and system access for current, incoming and prospective Boston Public School families. Hotline Workers will assist the department in providing superior customer service to the many individuals that contact the department either by email, in person or phone with inquiries, issues or complaints. Workers may also be tasked with completing in-person registrations during peak periods.
Responsibilities:
- Assist families with registration and related activities.
- Answer inquiries, research issues and document complaints from parents, principals, school staff and the community.
- Provide families with accurate information about registration / school choice and the assignment process
- Deliver superior customer service according to the Welcome Center standards.
- Utilize Aspen, BPS email Google Doc s, Excel, and other applications.
- Other activities as assigned by supervisor, which may include registration of families in person
Job Requirements:
- Applicant must be a resident of the city of Boston
- High school diploma
- Type 40-50 words per minute
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and navigate multiple windows
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) and other data analysis tools
- Ability to analyze and communicate complex issues effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to interact with diverse populations Professional self-starter, able to work independently
- Ability to work outside the usual business hours on evenings, weekends, and as needed determined by the Director
- Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment
Preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with second language constituencies (Spanish , Cape Verdean, Portuguese, French, Arabic , Chinese, Somali, Vietnamese, Haitian Creole)
Work Schedule:
Temporary CSR positions are seasonal and employees are typically needed for varying hours during Welcome Center peaks in January and in the summer month from July-mid September
This position subject to the City of Boston residency requirement.
