Position Overview
The Boston Public Schools is seeking a Program Manager to be responsible for organizing programs and activities for the BPS Applications team. The Applications team operates and maintains our suite of applications and data systems, used throughout the district’s schools and classrooms. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and leading projects that will make an impact for our students, teachers and partners. The program manager will be responsible for organizing and prioritizing new projects, meeting with stakeholders to identify business needs, and ensuring that our applications are supporting the strategic mission of the Boston Public Schools.
Program Manager Responsibilities
- Organizing programs and activities within our systems and applications in accordance with the mission of the Boston Public Schools.
- Developing new applications to support the needs of schools and central departments.
- Creating and managing long-term plans for data systems, including but not limited to program development, system maintenance, and application upgrades.
- Developing an operating budget for new and recurring projects.
- Developing an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
- Managing a team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities.
- Ensuring goals are met in areas including customer satisfaction, safety, quality and team member performance.
- Implementing and managing changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved.
- Meeting with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions on services.
- Keeping stakeholders engaged with program status throughout its life cycle.
- Creating and maintaining design standards across multiple applications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
- Proven experience in program management.
- Proven stakeholder management skills.
- Proven experience working with a diverse team.
- Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
- Understanding of project management using Agile methodologies (Scrum)
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced coursework or Master’s degree in an information systems, business administration or related field.
- 3-5 Years experience in project management and working with matrixed stakeholders and partners
- Experience in K-12 education system
