JOB TITLE: Teacher/Coach for Paraprofessional Professional Development Facilitator

DIVISION: Academics

OFFICE: Office of Educator Development and Leadership and Boston Teachers Union

REPORTS TO: Co-chairs of BTU/BPS Paraprofessional Professional Development Team

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This is a stipended position offered to Boston Public School teachers. The positions will reside in the Office of Teacher Leadership and Development in the Boston Public Schools, reporting to the Co-chairs of BTU/BPS Paraprofessional Professional Development Team.  The Teacher/Coach for Paraprofessional PD Facilitator must be a teacher in an Early Childhood, Elementary, or Middle School classroom and will be responsible for both developing Paraprofessional PD Facilitator training and providing coaching to  Paraprofessional PD Facilitators. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Design and deliver training to prepare Paraprofessional Facilitators to develop and deliver   professional development course for Boston Public Schools paraprofessionals ( Online or In-person)

  • Design and lead Paraprofessional Facilitator Training sessions October 2024 - February 2025 (15 hours)( Online or In-person)
  • Facilitator coaching sessions (whole group)  - March, April 2025 (2 sessions - 2.5hrs) - 5 hrs
  • Attend and coach Paraprofessional PD Facilitators as they teach their 10-hour professional development course (four 2.5 hours sessions) for BPS paraprofessionals between February - May 2025 (as agreed upon with Paraprofessional PD Facilitators)
  • Planning and Prep time on their own
  • Lead the Celebration of Paraprofessional Facilitators as they conclude their program year - June 2025 - 1hr

 

Support evaluation efforts of paraprofessional professional development workshops

  • Complete an evaluation survey about their experience in the paraprofessional facilitator training sessions and as workshop co-facilitators.
  • Provide feedback to Co-chairs of the BTU/BPS Paraprofessional Development team

 

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:

Required:

  • Currently a Boston Public Schools Employee
  • Experience leading professional development and/or facilitating adult learning
  • Experience working collaboratively with paraprofessionals in a classroom setting
  • Minimum of 5 Years of Service in Boston Public Schools, with experience relevant to classroom specific environment
  • Must have Grades K-0 to grade 3 and/or grades 3 to grade 8 Classroom experience 
  • Current authorization to work in the United States
  • A deeply held and unyielding belief in the overarching mission of public education

QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED:

  • Experience working as a teacher of children with special needs
  • Familiarity with Boston and Boston Public Schools

 

UNION/MANAGERIAL/RESIDENCY REQUIRED: BTU 3 (teachers) members only 

 

COMPENSATION RANGE: Stipend - $3000
