Job Description

The Food and Nutrition Services Department will sponsor the City of Boston's after-school supper program. The program aims to provide nutritious meals to students in the City of Boston, after the school day, in a structured and supervised environment with an educational or enrichment purpose. The program will primarily operate Monday through Friday, however, there may be a few Saturday sites. Saturday sites may provide breakfast and lunch. Mandatory training will be provided. 

 

Terms: 

Stipend: $50.00 per hour

Schedule: Each site assigned must be reviewed at least three times per year. Each review is one hour long. A review may be over one hour if approved by the supervisor.

 

Mileage Reimbursement: Mileage will be reimbursed 62.5 cents per mile for travel between sites, based upon the completed mileage form and subject to the conditions of the BPS mileage reimbursement policy.

 

Reports to: Nutrition Manager

 

Responsibilities: Ensures that site personnel maintain accurate records and that the program operates in accordance with the Federal and State requirements pertaining to the Child and Adult Care Food Program Regulations.

  • Complete site reviews; as required
  • Visit each site at least three times per year
  • Provide training to staff to ensure accuracy of documentation
  • Check the accuracy of paperwork from each site during the visit
  • Evaluate site staff for performance and recommend change, as indicated
  • Review site paperwork for accuracy before submission to DESE
  • Prepare reports of visits and reviews of foodservice operations
  • Attend required training
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of food
  • Ensure equipment is in working order and request repair, if indicated

 

Qualifications Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must have reliable automobile 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Dependability 
  • Resident of the City of Boston familiar with City of Boston schools and neighborhoods

Preferred:

  • College Degree 
  • Supervisory experience 
  • Familiarity with education and recreation programs for children in an urban setting 
  • Familiarity with food safety guidelines or food safety certification
  • Prior experience as a monitor, manager, or inspector in the Food Service industry.
