Description

Role Overview

The Eliot K-8 Innovation School is seeking a School Operations Coordinator who will support initiatives critical to building community partnerships and increasing family and community engagement to further student support, learning and achievement. The Eliot School Operations Coordinator will also lead the development of whole school and community events, manage school operations and collaborate with staff on school culture and climate. 

 

Responsibilities of the School Operations Coordinator will include but are not limited to:

 

Partnership Management

  • Serve as the primary liaison with key community partners
  • Establish and maintain successful relationships with members of the Eliot School community in close collaboration with school administration
  • Work closely with community organizations to ensure that students have access to the supports (academic, social emotional, health and wellness, enrichment) they need to be successful
  • Design and implement structures to identify and recruit community partners to support students
  • Continue to seek and build new partnerships, with a focus on maximizing resources

 

Family and Community Engagement

  • Coordinate and plan School Site Council meetings including logistics, programming and follow-up
  • Attend community meetings on behalf of the Eliot School  to hear community concerns, provide information about community engagement, and advocate for participation
  • Develop and implement a high-impact family engagement system, training all staff to utilize effectively to increase family engagement across the school community.
  • Coordinate resources and supports for families and students experiencing homelessness
  • Monitor and develop content for family and community stakeholders and develop sharing system across multiple mediums (website, social media, telephone blasts, backpacked materials, etc)
  • Ensure strong alignment and coordination between family involvement efforts and broader community engagement initiatives in support of student learning and achievement

 

School Operations Support

 

  • Drive the creation and maintenance of school operational systems that support high quality instruction and family engagement

 

  • Manage the system of and participate in daily duties (i.e. entry, lunch, dismissal)
  • Drive fidelity of school culture systems across the school, including behavior management and more.
  • Identify classroom needs with teachers and plan strategic events to support classroom fundraising efforts

 

Qualifications

  • Associates/Bachelors degree with experience working with inner city youth in urban setting
  • 3+ years of full-time work experience; 1-3 years experience preferably in an education or non-profit related organization
  • Demonstrated passion for and commitment to the Eliot School’s mission, core values and educational model
  • Commitment to the success of all Eliot School students
  • Flexible and able to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
  • Willingness to work autonomously, collaboratively, and/or under the direction of senior staff, as needed
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of social media platforms/tools and emerging new media
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Drive Suite
  • Comfort and familiarity with student information databases (Aspen, SIS, etc)

This position is subject to the City of Boston Residency ordinance Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment 

 

NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or headmaster of the school. 

 

School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
