JOB TITLE: BPS/BTU Paraprofessional Professional Development Facilitator

 

REPORTS TO: Co-chairs of BTU/BPS Paraprofessional Professional Development Team

 

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This is a stipended position offered to Boston Public School paraprofessionals. The positions will reside in the Office of Human Capital in the Boston Public Schools, reporting to the Co-chairs of BTU/BPS Paraprofessional Professional Development Team.  The BPS/BTU Paraprofessional Professional Development Facilitators will be responsible for both attending facilitator training and delivering professional development workshops for paraprofessionals. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and deliver professional development course for Boston Public Schools paraprofessionals( Online or in person )

  • Participate in all Paraprofessional Facilitator Training sessions October 2020 - February 2021 (15 hours)( Hybrid model Online or  in person )
    • Participate in co-designing a professional development course for BPS paraprofessionals in a content area approved by Co-chairs of BTU/BPS  Paraprofessional Professional Development team
  • Facilitator coaching sessions (whole group)  - March, April 2021 (2 sessions - 2.5hrs) - 5 hrs
  • Teach one 10-hour professional development course (four 2.5 hours sessions) for BPS paraprofessionals between February - May 2021
  • Planning and Prep time on their own
  • Celebration - June 2021 - 1hr

 

Support evaluation efforts of paraprofessional professional development workshops

  • Complete an evaluation survey about their experience in the paraprofessional facilitator training sessions and as workshop co-facilitators.
  • Provide feedback to Co-chairs of the BTU/BPS Paraprofessional Development team

 

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:

Required:

  • Currently a Boston Public Schools Employee
  • Bachelor’s Degree not necessary, all must have either 48 college credits or have passed the ParaPro exam
  • Minimum of 5 Years of Service in Boston Public Schools, with experience relevant to classroom specific environment
  • Must have Grades K-0 to grade 3 and/or grades 3 to grade 8 Classroom experience 
  • Must have an evaluation rating of “Meets or Exceeds Standard” in all Dimensions of the most recent evaluation
  • Current authorization to work in the United States
  • A deeply held and unyielding belief in the overarching mission of public education

 

QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED:

  • Recommendation by School Administrator or Teacher
  • Familiarity with Boston and Boston Public Schools

 

TERMS: BTU 2 (Paraprofessionals) members only (residency not required)

 

COMPENSATION RANGE: Stipends  - $1500 (in two or three installments throughout the year)
