PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The OMME 5-Week Academic Enrichment program helps English/multilingual learners improve their language skills and reach their full potential. Our program is carefully crafted to cater to the unique needs of students with varying levels of English proficiency, enabling them to focus on specific aspects of language development, including reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills. Our interactive and engaging language-rich learning activities are designed with a project-based learning approach that fosters a supportive and enjoyable environment for students to practice and refine their language skills. The program features a comprehensive academic curriculum that includes Math and ESL/English Language Arts, ensuring that cognitively demanding tasks and grade-level complex texts are accessible to multilingual learners. In addition to academics, our program also offers a diverse range of enrichment activities, including STEM, Arts, Leadership Building, and Physical Fitness, tailored to the needs of English/multilingual learners entering 1st-12th grades. 

 

Position Summary:

This is a summer program coordinated by the Office of Multilingual and Multicultural Education (OMME)  in order to support EL acceleration in English language acquisition and development. Coordinators hired are expected to adhere to the vision and mission of OMME, which is to provide a culturally and linguistically responsive education with the support needed to ensure equitable access to opportunities that promote language acquisition, bilingualism, biliteracy, and lifelong learning.

Site Coordinators will supervise, guide, assist, and facilitate all classroom responsibilities, including the learning environment, lesson plan implementation, assessment, classroom management, parent communication, and classroom observations.

 

For example, if the site operates from 8:00 am-2:00 pm, the coordinator will work from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM with additional pre-planning, Monday to Friday, beginning on July 8th, 2024, and ending on August 9th, 2024. Job responsibilities will require additional time for site prep, data entry, data analysis, and communications with families.

Hours: 

General hours include a 6-hour work day and additional prep/planning time depending on specific sites.  For example, programming at sites could have a duration of 8:00 am - 2 pm or 9:30am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Job responsibilities will require site prep, data entry, data analysis, communications to families planning, and prep time outside the hours' instruction.
